The Cancun International Airport was founded in april of 1974 • The IATA Code is CUN • It has an elevation of 22 meters above sea level • It has two runways: runway 12L/30R, which measures 2,800 metres (9,200 ft) in length and runway 12R/30L, which measures 3,500 metres (11,500 ft) with the capacity to accommodate large aircraft such as Boeing 747 and Airbus A380 • Airport is located 25 kilometers away from Hotel Zone and Downtown • ASUR Is the company wich administrates the airport. Cancun Airport transportation between their 3 passenger terminals is FREE using the airport official shuttle bus. Find the bus stop out of each terminal where you can check the schedules. In T2 Terminal is near to Gate 8 at the street getting out of the shuttle hub.

Logistically and economically, flying to Cancun makes the most sense if your stay will be in Cancun, Isla or Costa Mujeres, Playa del Carmen and even the Riviera Maya because it is close to these places and has many airline options. But if you plan to stay in Tulum, Bacalar or Mahahual, the most recommended airport for you will be the airport of Tulum

There are many options to get from Cancun Airport to Hotel Zone, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and anywhere in the Riviera Maya. If you decide to travel by bus, the ticket price may seem cheap, but consider that the Cancun bus terminal is 30 minutes from the airport and 25-40 minutes from the Hotel Zone, so adding the taxi you will have to take from there, the amount you can save is minimal compared to the fatigue, wear and tear and risk of taking this route.
